AS/A Level


AS: Year 12 Course summary:

Portfolio 100%

A period of four weeks of preparatory activities: analysis of strengths and weaknesses, VISUAL DIARY, visits to galleries, drawing and design exercises, visiting speakers, photographic techniques.

This will be followed by a period of supported development: studies of artists’ work, designs, roughs and three dimensional maquettes.

The final outcomes should cover different specialist techniques:

Fine Art: drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, printmaking

Graphics: film, photography

3D: Wire, cardboard, clay sculptures

Film and lens: installations, photography

Work will be internally assessed in May, externally moderated in June.

 

A Level: Year 13 Course summary:

Personal Investigation 60%

Preparatory activities during the summer vacation - visual diary, visits to galleries, drawing and design exercises, three dimensional tasks.

This will be followed by a period of supported development: studies of artists' work, highly developed designs, roughs and maquettes.

The final outcomes should cover different specialist techniques:

Fine Art: drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, printmaking, installations.

Graphics: film, photography.

3D: Wire, cardboard, clay sculptures.

Work will be internally assessed in January, externally moderated in June.

Examination 40%

Externally set, timed and supervised ( 6 weeks preparation, 12 hours examination ). It is assessed internally at the end of February and it is moderated externally in June.
