Mae Iwan Gruffydd, 12 oed o Gaerffili wedi'i ddewis i gymryd rhan yng nghynhyrchiad mwyaf diweddar Cwmni Opera Cymru sef y Ffliwt Hud.

Mae Iwan wedi bod wrthi'n galed yn ymarfer yng Nghanolfan y Mileniwm ar gyfer y perfformiad ym mis Mai. Dywedodd Iwan, "Mae'n deimlad arbennig i berfformio yng Nghanolfan y Mileniwm er bod yr adeilad yn anferthol! Rwy'n mwynhau yn fawr ond mae'r ymarfer yn waith caled a blinedig.

Mae Iwan hefyd yn mwynhau chwarae'r ffliwt a dywed ei athrawes cerddoriaeth, Miss Odette Jones," Mae Iwan yn ddisgybl talentog dros ben ac yn gaffaeliad i'w deulu ac i Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni".

MAGIC FLAUTIST ON SONG

He may only be 12 years old, but he is still giving Bryn Terfel a run for his money in the operatic stakes.

Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni pupil Iwan Gruffydd has been chosen to take part in the Welsh National Opera's latest production of the Magic Flute.

The youngster is already practising hard at Wales' new Millennium Centre for the production later in the year. He said, "It's great performing at the Millennium Centre, although it is a really big place. I'm enjoying taking part and practising with everyone else."

Singing is not the only talent that Iwan possesses, he can also play the flute. But despite being very musically talented, he is not looking to pursue it as a career, but is enjoying what he does. Music teacher at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni, Odette Jones, could not be more pleased with Iwan's achievements. She said, "He is an extremely talented pupil and is a credit to his family."
